If you don't like to play around with the module settings, then this is what you get if you install the Universal AJAX Live Search module, select a position and publish it! Your search module will look like the one on this website on the right.
This product is "Plug & Play", you don't even need to set anything, it will work!

Essentials of the Search

The main purpose of the search is to give a better feeling and look for your customers/users. The search results are not that different from the joomla built in search module, since Joomla is handling the search system with a nice layered method and therefore the actual "search" is done by the installed search plugins.

Will this work with any component?

This is the one of the most frequently asked question regarding this module. Since the search depends on the search plugins, the answer is very simple. If the installed component has it's own search plugin, it will work like a charm. (it can be checked in the plugin manager) Fortunately, most of the well known components have search plugins!

Basic Options

Let's dig a little deeper into the Universal AJAX Live Search module settings page. Most of them are really easy to understand, altough some explanation is always nice. The first 12 options speak for themselves, the interesting part begins at the search areas on the basic options tab.

Plugin Area Settings

These settings determine the search areas of the Live Search. The textboxes contain the names of the displayed search areas on the frontend. Each result will display under the corresponding category. You can name the plugins as you like, without editing the plugins actual name!

Layout Options

With these options you can customise the basic layout of the search module.

Layout Settings

The Search Area width field will accept both px and % data, since this is the most important of the layout settings. As you can see, you can set the size of the result images and even the size of the result list. The height of the search input and the result box is not changeable since it is automatically set by the number of the search results. The height of one result item is set automatically set as well, but it is affected by the height of the search result images height.

Themes and Design

This is one of the most powerful aspect of this module. The main purpose of the themeing was to create an interface which allows you to customise the search in all the possible ways, yet to preserve the simpleness and the integrity. The results speaks for itself, you can customise fonts, colors, buttons, animations, gradients without breaking the robust design and functionality of the Live Search Module.
